Growing up, my Grandpa used to tell us that if we didn’t help, contribute or put in the hard work, we didn’t have the right to complain or criticize. If you wanted the right to complain or criticize, you had to earn it.
Along with crazy weather, April has brought a lot of opportunities for me to earn my complaining rights. 😉 Whether it’s volunteering for a 4-H Book Swap, helping The Community Farm with a goat vaccine clinic, reading and scoring the School of Mines Senior Capstone Essays, or even redecorating the Wellness Center bathrooms, April has brought a lot of room to step up and say “I’ll do it”.
Along the way, there have been some super cool surprises. For example, learning about the environmental impacts of EV cars compared to ICE cars, tricking a group of rowdy children into a Mat Pilates class by calling it “A Game Called Easier or Harder”, and meeting a fellow entrepreneur who sells custom designed soap dispensers.
If you’ve been in the Wellness Center bathrooms lately, you may have noticed they’ve had a major glow-up. I spent a few days shopping, hanging, and organizing the space to look more inviting. It was a fun project and I’m very excited for how it turned out. Christine, from Artanis Homes, provided custom soap dispensers for our glow-up project. Christine makes some really cool stuff and while I chose a very simple design and a plastic bottle, it was exactly the style, colors and aesthetic I was looking for. It was pretty neat to go through the entire process of customizing a design and I’d def recommend working with her. From beginning to end, the entire process with Christine was quick, easy and straight to the point. 🙂 Check out the pics below to see the glow-up and the bottles from Artanis.
