I have been to a good handful of trained professionals to help with aches, pains, and stiffness – some of them with pretty scaring experiences that didnāt help and emptied my piggy bank. I have to tell you, Rubecca and her practice stands part from all the rest.
Rubecca was patient, kind, and very knowledgeable. Knowing some of my past experiences, she really took the time to get to know me, work with my trainer on exercises that could be leading to more strain, and identify a pathway to improve. I had never been to stretch therapy before and Rubecca was very knowledgeable and thorough explaining what she was doing for each stretch and why she was doing it and it feels so wonderful afterwards! I had heard about FST from my chiropractor but never experienced it. I got a referral to someone who was a bit too rough on my knee but was intrigued by the concept so I decided to look for a more gentle practitioner.Ā I did a google search on FST and found Rubecca. Ā I have one very bad knee, but the problem that brought me in was that my good knee was starting to hurt. This terrified me so I really needed to do something. I tried chiropractic on my good knee, shockwave therapy and working with a very good physical therapist on stretches and exercises. My PT told me that since my body is getting older I really needed to be more gentle with my approaches. I have had only the most minimal pain in my knee since Rubecca started working with me, and my bad knee was even feeling better.

While visiting my son, daughter-in-law and grandson in Colorado, I was able have a stretch session at Pilates Native. I was having leg and back pain due to a slip and fall at the bottom of our stairs a few weeks earlier. The stretch session was amazing and so relaxing. Rubecca was gentle yet firm at the same time, giving my muscles a really good stretch. The pain just seemed to flow out of my body. My entire body felt so good afterwards and my tight muscles were really relaxed and I felt no pain. If I lived there, I would do this on a weekly basis. I can seeow beneficial a weekly session could be to people who are experiencing pain and even if not in pain. It just made me feel so good. I would highly recommend Pilates Native!

Rubecca’s stretch therapy was a unique experience. I have never done stretch before, but I had done Pilates with her and really enjoyed it. She always approaches Pilates as almost a physical therapy where we get in tune with what our bodies need from us rather than what we want from them. I’ve never done Pilates before and I was a little intimated. But Rubecca is so kind and has so much knowledge that she put me at ease. I did a combination of Pilates and stretching and it was a nice mix of strength training and relaxation. Rubecca also identified that my shoulder pain might be more than tightness, so I followed up with a doctor who confirmed it was a partial tear of my rotator cuff. I would definitely recommend this business for stretch and for Pilates!

First of all, Rubecca is an *amazing* instructor! She’s supportive, challenging, and knows her stuff. I’ve been seeing her for about 7 months now and wow, can I feel a difference. When I started my posture was terrible. Now I’m amazed to look in the mirror and see a huge change. It’s not perfect yet, but about 95% there. Being a recovering perfectionist and coming from an athletic background, it’s ingrained in me that I have to push myself, try harder, strive. I want to share my experience with this simple morning stretch. I immediately noticed that my feet felt better when I got up. My feet had been tight and it hurt to walk at first each day. But Rubecca is amazing, and I love how easy this is to make the first thing I do each morning. I also love that the first thing I do each day is just for me. We all deserve self care. Six months later I no longer have any pain, feel stronger, and I went from not being able to balance on one foot for 3 seconds, to confidently balancing with my eyes closed.
I found Rubecca and Pilates Native when I was experiencing severe hip, knee, and ankle pain for over a year. My balance had been off for over 9 months. As a younger, active woman who works as an ER nurse, I was confused and desperate to find relief. I had tried anti-inflammatories, new shoes, physical therapy, massage, weight loss, and a personal trainer. By the time I found Rubecca, I couldn’t walk without pain and 12-hour shifts were miserable.
Rubecca spent the first hour testing so many muscles and honed in immediately on my hip imbalances and weaknesses and began a program with me that helped strengthen all the small stabilizer muscles. I had homework to do at home that bridged me between visits. I always knew that I had hypermobility of many of my joints, but I recently got my official diagnosis of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (a genetic connective tissue disorder). Rubecca has been so great in helping me understand how to protect my joints and get my stabilizer muscles strengthened to reduce my pain and manage my symptoms.

About a year ago I blew up my shoulder big time, had surgery and months of therapy. However, I never felt 100% and started looking for alternatives. I came across Pilates Native and gave it a shot. The experience has been remarkable. My overall flexibility, strength and mobility has increased. Rubecca’s methodical and scientific approach created a plan of action with defined goals that we work towards weekly. I’ve worked with personal trainers and several PT and Rubecca is definitely different. Highly recommend.

my body feels much more stable and stationary
I have seen material improvement in my swimming since starting at Native Pilates. I use more of my obliques as my body feels much more stable and stationary through the water, improving my mile swim time by 10-15% (which is huge). In addition my turns at the wall are smoother as my spine can shift from stability to flexibility on a dime. I used to pull back muscles from time to time doing turns, not anymore.

In a short 6 weeks, Rubecca has dramatically improved my lower back pain. I am back to lifting weights, skiing steep bumps, and riding my mountain back with either no pain or the tools and strategies I need to make adjustments. Her mechanical engineering brain is such a gift and she is so good at providing cues that help me understand how to engage my deep core to provide alignment and keep my spine safe. I have suffered from juvenile arthritis for most of life and know she even researched my condition to learn more about how she can support my healing process. I met Rubecca in 2021 while studying for my Pilates mat certification, and asked, as a client, for her help to improve my posture, balance, and strength. I quickly learned that Rubecca is not only highly qualified and educated in traditional and contemporary Pilates, but she also offers a unique program specializing in injury prevention and recovery. The latter is about helping clients to become aware of how and why their bodies currently move, and how and why that movement can be done more effectively. I knew during my personal workout sessions with Rubecca that if I were ever going to pursue certification on the Pilates Reformer/Cadillac, I wanted her leading me on that journey.
In 2022, I signed up for the Pilates Instructor Training with Rubecca. I selected Pilates Native instead of other training programs because of Rubeccaās extensive knowledge, commitment to the principles of Pilates, instruction that goes beyond ācookie cutterā and memorization, and āhands-onā teaching experience that would prepare me to work with a variety of clients, especially the actively aging. I successfully completed her program with a sense of empowerment and confidence knowing that I have the ability to positively help, influence, and/or inspire others in their fitness and health goals. The knowledge I’ve been able to take away from that one session has allowed me to communicate more effectively with my Pilates instructors at home so I can avoid or modify movements that put me at risk for back pain. December 2023 update – I’ve now been working with Rubecca at Pilates Native for 9 months and it’s been fantastic! Shortly after starting at the studio, I found out I was pregnant with my first kiddo. Rubecca has been so great at helping me stay in shape and find exercises that work for my body throughout the pregnancy. I’m proud to say that with her support and guidance, I’ve been able to practice through 38 weeks of pregnancy and she’s helped me maintain excellent posture and core strength that I know will make a difference during labor. This was my first Pilates experience, and it went extremely well. Unfortunately, I had to move, however, Rubecca and her team and their one-on-one engagement style was awesome. As a middle aged woman, I needed to take things more slowly, which they willingly took the time to guide me through. I loved their stretch therapy after the workout as well, and the Thai massage. I hate that I’m too far away now to keep going to this class.
