Improving Flexibility, Range of Motion, and Functionality
“I can’t touch my toes.”
“I can’t get my leg to do this….” *awkward attempt to move leg into a figure-four stretch position.
“I’m just soooo tight!”
“The more I stretch, the worse it gets!”
Sound familiar?
If you are strong, healthy and super active, but also identify as tight, stiff and inflexible, stretch sessions with Pilates Native are for you.
So what makes Thai Yoga Bodywork different from other stretch programs, massage or yoga classes?
Each stretch session is done fully clothed, one-on-one and focuses on YOUR individual stretch needs for a full fifty minute or eighty minute session.
Unlike a yoga class, where you are actively working and engaged, during Thai Vedic assisted Yoga, you relax on the floor futon while the stretch practitioner does all of the work for you!
Thai Yoga is for you if you:
- You have super tight muscles or limited flexibility (ie can’t touch your toes)
- Your range of motion seems to be getting worse
- Your body just doesn’t feel as mobile as it used to
- Rest and recovery are words you’ve heard of but never employ in your own life
- You are high stress and really need to “chill the f out” for a moment.
Without any conscious input from you, your body has developed its own tricks, habits, compensations and muscle patterns to accomplish whatever task you’re after…whether or not you have the strength, range of motion, or form to perform the activity.
Over time, the body gets locked into those muscle patterns and begins to adapt by working with and around whatever those compensations happen to be. This could be a shorter range of motion, improper muscle activation, or over compensating for tighter or weaker muscle groups. This “working around” is what leads to inefficient motion, improper muscle usage, irritation, tightness, pain and eventually injury.
This is where assisted stretch can help.
Each gentle, pain-free, full body session is designed to:
- Improve Range of Motion, which in turn increases physical strength, improves physical activity and improves sports performance.
- Decrease pain, stiffness and tightness in the muscles.
- Proactively help prevent injuries.
- Improve flexibility, posture and circulation.
- Be enjoyable! Assisted stretching is more effective (and more enjoyable) than self-stretching.
- Allow space for the central nervous system to relax and calm down, so healing and recover can take place.

What if I’m not an athlete? Will Thai Vedic Assisted Yoga still work for me?
Yes!
Thai Vedic Bodywork is a great self-care modality for:
- Parents. Caring for children (of any age) can be mentally, emotionally and physically stressful. Thai Vedic Bodywork can help you treat the aches and pains of juggling toddlers (or teenagers!) and groceries while also giving you a clean, quiet space to relax.
- Business professionals. Sitting in one spot all day can be incredibly taxing on the body. It can also create unusual postural habits. Assisted stretch can help iron out all of the kinks from sitting all day, whether it’s in an office, at a home desk or on the go.
- Type-A Stress heads. (And I do mean that in the most loving of ways). If you’re like me and you stress over EVERYTHING, this is a great way to relax your central nervous system and give your brain and body time to chill out.
- Folks who are interested in self-care but aren’t comfortable with massage. Massage can be a little too vulnerable for some of us, which makes it hard to relax. Assisted stretch is done fully clothed, and we can easily adapt your session to include brighter light and an open door.
